The Stage Academy's classes are held in a purpose built studio facility and consist of three elements covering the three major areas of entertainment - Dance/Movement, Drama and Vocal Training.
We also hold two productions each year to showcase the student's talents and enable parents to see what their child has achieved.
The Stage Academy timetable is divided into 3 sessions, and the pupils will be divided into classes within their own age group to ensure they all feel comfortable in their working environment.
This class is essential for any student of the performing arts. It not only helps students develop their dance and movement skills, but also helps them become aware of the space around them - an essential part of being on stage, as well as enabling them to work as a team with the other members of the group.
Theatre games, improvisations and storytelling are all a fantastic way of building confidence in our students. Our drama classes aim to build on this confidence and unleash some of the creativity that is inside every young mind.
Group singing is a fabulous way for young people to express themselves. Our classes not only help the students to develop their own vocal skills, but help the students become aware of the bigger picture. Often in the theatre, it is the big musical numbers that have the most impact, and we aim to teach our students the techniques that make these so successful. All of this makes our students more confident, and when they are ready for it, we encourage them to sing solo parts.
Each year The Stage Academy produces 2 shows.
The first show takes place during class hours at the end of a term and is mainly to show the friends and families of the students what they have been working on during their sessions.
The second show is a large scale production which runs over 2 or 3 evenings, and takes place in a local theatre. These productions are as professional as they can possibly be, and the pupils are taught how to behave as professionals would. Everything you would expect from a theatre production is present at these shows, from costumes, to lighting and sound to special effects. We feel it is important for our students to gain realistic theatrical experiences, and so our productions reflect the industry standard.
